After “Matrubhojan” where Mom feeds her son for the last time before he moves out of the home for studies. In this part, “Astavarga” section is included where eight kids of the same age as the Batu or those who have already had their Munj (thread ceremony) function completed are invited to have the meal along with the Batu. The meal is usually a very simple and kid-friendly preparation which has 5 types of sweets.
After Matrubhojan, the rituals are performed by the priests and “Mangalashtaka” takes place where the Father and Son exchange Garlands. Here the Father tells him the holy chant of “Gayatri Mantra”. This is a truly spectacular moment for the parents to behold. With the live music accompanied by dhol like we have in wedding enhances the environment of the hall.
